Course Info: 2025 Summer Python Camp

The 2025 summer python camp course is a 10-day (two calendar weeks) intensive program designed for students eager to maximize their summer by diving into programming. This fast-paced course introduces essential programming concepts and hands-on practice, culminating in a fun and engaging final project.

Topics Covered:

  • Setting up the Python programming environment and writing your first "Hello, World!" program.
  • Exploring Python's built-in functions.
  • Understanding control flow and loops.
  • Mastering iterations.
  • Diving into functions (two-part series).
  • Working with Python's built-in data structures.
  • Final Project: Building a simple Pong game (two-part series).
  • Wrapping up and exploring next steps in programming.

Recommended Age Group:

  • 10 years old and above.

What to Bring:

Hardware:

  • A personal laptop (Windows, Mac, or Linux), fully charged.
  • (Recommended) Laptop charger.

Note: Personal laptops are encouraged for continued practice at home. If unavailable, contact us to arrange a loaner for camp use.

Software:

  • (Required) Python 3.13.2
  • (Required) Jupyter Notebook
  • (Recommended) VS Code

June:

  • Session A: 09:00 - 09:50 am, Monday - Friday, June 2nd - June 13th.
  • Session B: 10:00 - 10:50 am, Monday - Friday, June 2nd - June 13th.
  • Session C: 01:00 - 01:50 pm, Monday - Friday, June 2nd - June 13th.
  • Session D: 02:00 - 02:50 pm, Monday - Friday, June 2nd - June 13th.

July:

  • Session E: 09:00 - 09:50 am, Monday - Friday, July 7th - July 18th.
  • Session F: 10:00 - 10:50 am, Monday - Friday, July 7th - July 18th.
  • Session G: 01:00 - 01:50 pm, Monday - Friday, July 7th - July 18th.
  • Session H: 02:00 - 02:50 pm, Monday - Friday, July 7th - July 18th.

Location:

  • In-Person: We will host our sessions in Preston Trails (near Central and Greenwich). Details TBD.

Class Size:

  • Maximum: 8 students per session.
  • Minimum: 3 students per session (sessions not meeting the minimum will be canceled, with options to switch or receive a full refund).

Cost:

  • $200.00 per student per session.
  • Two-month discount: Enroll in a July session along with a June session to receive a $40 discount (valid for one July session per student).

Tips for Success:

  • Practice regularly after class—programming skills improve with consistent practice.
  • Class notes will be provided after each session. Revisit the notes, type the code, and experiment to deepen your understanding.

Policies:

Makeup Classes:

  • Available for illness or family emergencies only.

Inclement Weather:

  • Classes canceled due to weather will be rescheduled for the same week's Saturday, if possible.

Refunds:

  • 100% refund for cancellations made before the 3rd day of the class start date.
  • 50% refund for cancellations made on or after the 3rd day of the class start date but before the 5th day of the class start date.
  • No refunds for cancellations made after 5 days of the class start date.
