2025 Fall Python Training

We at Wichita Coding Academy are delighted to provide the Fall 2025 Python training course! The course is for learners who would like to learn programming using Python. This eight-week (total 16 hours) course introduces essential programming concepts and hands-on practice, culminating in a fun and engaging final project.

Topics Covered:

  • Setting up the Python programming environment and writing your first "Hello, World!" program.
  • Exploring Python's built-in functions.
  • Understanding control flow and loops.
  • Mastering iterations/loops.
  • Diving into functions (two-part series).
  • Working with Python's built-in data structures.
  • Final Project: Building a simple Pong game (two-part series).
  • Wrapping up and exploring next steps in programming.

Recommended Age Group:

  • Middle/High school students
  • University students
  • Adult learners

What to Bring:

Hardware:

  • A personal laptop (Windows, Mac, or Linux), fully charged.
  • (Recommended) Laptop charger.
  • Our classroom has WSU's guest network along with Hotspot internet access.

Software:

  • Google's Colab (online), or Python SDK and VS Code installed on laptop.

Date and Time

The class meets at Monday and Wednesday on the following dates:

  • Sep 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th
  • Oct 1st, 6th, 8th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, 29th.
  • Nov 3rd.
  • Note that we do not meet on Oct 13th due to Fall break.

Each day we have two sessions available: 6:00 - 7:00 pm, and 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Please choose one session to attend.

Location and Parking:

  • In-Person: We will host our sessions at Wichita State University, Woolsey Hall Room 202 (see map below)
  • Parking is free for WSU visitors after 5:00 pm. We recommend to use the Lot 41 or Lot 39 as they are the two closest lots.

Class Size:

  • Maximum: 10 students per session.
  • Minimum: 3 students per session (sessions not meeting the minimum will be canceled, with options to switch or receive a full refund).

Cost:

  • $200.00 per student per session.

Tips for Success:

  • Practice regularly after class—programming skills improve with consistent practice.
  • Class notes will be provided after each session. Revisit the notes, type the code, and experiment to deepen your understanding.

Policies:

Refunds:

  • 100% refund for cancellations made before the 3rd class start date.
  • 50% refund for cancellations made on or after the 3rd class start date but before the 5th class start date.
  • No refunds for cancellations made after 5th class start date.
